Getting the Details
At an auction event, I donated a scrapbooking party for one lucky young lady and 4 of her friends. One of my daughter’s sweet 10 year old friends won the package! So this last Saturday my home that is usually filled by mostly boys, was finally off balance with girls! 5 girls + 4 hours of scrapbooking = one big mess, but so much fun! As a photographer, I took advantage of this time to take some photos using my 50mm 1.8 lens, also known as the nifty fifty. This was a perfect lens to use for an activity like this. It was the middle of the afternoon with light coming in from my patio door and several windows. I kept the lens pretty open at 2.2 and loved the images I got. Very little went into editing these, because I wanted you to see the effect you could have when focusing on the details. Having ribbon, paper cutters, stickers and scissors provided plenty of opportunities for detailed shots. Getting close, the lens being nice and wide open and focusing in the center helped achieve some sweet pictures. These are not photos that I think will be winning a contest any time soon, but I hope they give you an idea of how breaking out your camera in everyday situations can yield some nice photos! Now I just have to print them all and make a scrapbook of my own!
